In spite of his (photoshopped) appearance at
the end of the last chapter, I don't have a
custom Master/ Sec figure. Since this episode
was shot before the Master/ Yana figures were
released, Sec appears in his Evolution of the
Daleks suit, justified by uttering a line lifted
from the TV Movie.
Unlike last month's episode, this one was set from the very
beginning.
The Daleks' plan of pulling their race out of the Time War at
the moment of their deaths gave rise to the opportunity of
showing a glimpse of the Time War and some of the hardware that
the Time Lords employed. The Obliviate went through several
looks before the final version. It was created in photoshop
combining several real world elements.
It was always intended to be a shop
carrying a sun or a black hole.
The Flash episode was edited
very soon after filming because I wanted to work on the
Time War elements. At this time, the title was changed
to The Fate of the Obliviate. The previous title
had been From The Ashes in reference to the
Daleks' plan to resurrect their race.
Flash editing goes in two
stages. Firstly to put the movie together and add
dialogue and speical effects and then a second process
adding the control buttons and music. This second phase
was not started until 24 February and completed on the
25th making the episode a few days later than planned.
The Daleks' stellar detonators were
added in photoshop and are gamma ray tanks from a Bruce
Banner/ Incredible Hulk figure. We'll be seeing that
tank again later in the year.
There are no continuity links with any
other stories since this current story takes place in
it's own continuity bubble during Series 3. The Time War
elements and skirmishes depicted are my own invention
and have not been referenced in the series.
