Just as
our story entered production in October
2007, news broke that Rose would be
returning for the series 4 finale.
As mentioned on
the
AFT homepage
I considered shelving my story but was
spurred on to get it finished.
At this
time, with Series 4 about to begin
airing it appears that Sarah Jane AND
Captain Jack will also be returning and
they are fighting Daleks!

This episode was one of the original
premises of the whole story- the Doctor joined by former
companions to help fight a seemingly insurmountable
enemy.
The inspiration had come from the wealth
of companion figures being made and a desire to use them
all. The original plan also included K-9 and Sarah Jane
Smith.
The story entered production in early
October. The sewer scenes with Rose and Mickey were shot
on 28th November.
Late pick ups including the Reaper blue
screen stuff was done 20 March.
Some scenes had to be reshot including
the scenes where the Doctor is reunited with Rose. These
originally took place in Mickey's flat (switched to a
library) and on the roof.
Editing was done very late-
starting on Friday 21 Mar and finishing 24 Mar.
One scene moved from the
beginning of the story but eventually cut altogether
involved the Face of Boe summoning the Doctor's Army.
Hearing the Doctor's cries from across the vortex, he
realises that time has been altered and sends Hame to
assist.
As with previous episodes this story
takes place between Utopia and The Sound of Drums. In
the series continuity, Rose and Mickey were trapped in a
parallel universe at the end of Doomsday and haven't
seen the Doctor since.
