| This story filled a specific need. There was a
two episode gap in the schedule and it required a story that
showed the Doctor and Thadius Torchwood working together.
Several ideas were thrown around including Conduit a 7th
Doctor story with the Sontarans and another 5th Doctor story
Planet of Ice featuring the Ice Warriors. Early titles for
the story were Labyrinth and The Past of
Bracchis. Given that the Bracchians are elephants, the planet
should really have been called Pachys- deriving from the term
Pachyderm once used for elephants. |

The story was shot in February 2003, really last
minute and shot back to back with
The Diary.
The scene where Tegan is shown the tapestry had to be
shot after Torchwood's death scene so it could be
included in the tapesty. |
|
Below is an
early mock-up of how the tapestry would look. |

The Master's
airships were created using Asymetrix 3D/FX. |

The Bracchian
town is a combination of CGI and Bedouin lamps. |

| The Master's use of an anagramatical alias "Straem"
is typical of his character at that time. His TARDIS appears
here as an ionic column as seen in Logopolis and
Castovalva. |
| Turlough being knocked out early in the story is
a device often used on the TV show. With too many companions to
divide the action, Turlough was often locked up or incapacitated
in some way. |
